Week 1.
Shirt with a lot of muscles. Cotton and linden wood.
First week! I have a bit of a belly after the summer, no big deal, but it would be nice to be a bit more fit.
Week 3.
Sketches of a work in progress.
Fíflið / The Fool
Misstep? Tripping over one's own feet,
yes yes, keep going.
Walking my way! 🎶
Shoes bursting with sincerity, perseverance, kindness, and curiosity.
Linden wood, acrylics, carton.
Week 5.
Arrived in Iceland to work for the next 2 weeks, sleeping in my mom’s atelier.
She is undergoing a bilateral mastectomy tomorrow.
This piece shows two cuties in a puddle of milk, a tribute to my mom’s cuties.
Week 7.
Found this fine wooden block.
It’s saturated with resin that's slowly seeping from the wood.
Smells great!
I’m experimenting a bit with colors for another project, we'll see how that goes.
Mountain
Pine, acrylic, pencil
Week 9.
I was working on this piece for much longer than a single week. But this is the final week that this cap is allowed to be worn.
Week 11.
I really wish I were home in Svarfaðardalur right now. Take about two weeks for some coziness, warmth, and relaxation.
I'm going to Höfn next week,
and I lost my pencil.
Week 13.
I've been in a work stretch in Höfn and there I saw a huge, beautiful tractor.
Proposal for a piece:
A giant, brand-new tractor.
I show up regularly to clean and wax the tractor.
At the end of the day, I start the engine for about 10-15 minutes and just admire it.
Week 15.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, a video game I’m excited about, comes out tomorrow, and I’ll be spending a big part of the week in it.
I decided, therefore, to try making one quick woodcut.
This is a hand, maybe sleeping, maybe dead.
Week 17.
I lied to you last week. I’m off to Istanbul.
A little holiday! I'll be back after the weekend.
Finding my focus isn't off to a great start, but I’m continuing to experiment with timber + copper. Might be fun to work on some larger scale pieces?
Week 19.
Sketch for a piece. I’m going to make this one out of beech wood and with mirror-polished bronze. And bigger.
I bought some beech wood the other day, and I'm going to try carving it.
I'm participating in a group show on April 12th. It would be nice to finish a series of works in this style.
I have a cold.
Week 21. - Ragnheiðurs Birthday!
Yet another sketch for the series I’m working on these days. Not sure about the color. Always a bit insecure with colors. Need to think about titles for the works.
1st piece: clothes out in a field
2nd piece: two chairs indoors, one fallen over.
3rd piece: two eyes? and one arched gateway
I’ll come up with titles later, far too early for those thoughts.
Week 23.
I went to shoot a video with my friend Rúnar.
This is an ongoing video work that we regularly add to.
Titled: Walking away,
Looking back.
Here is a still from the latest shoot."
Week 25.
Arrived in Iceland and I'm working in film all week. But I dropped by Höggó¹ to play around with the scroll saw there. I want to work more with sawing wood into multiple units that fit together, like a puzzle. This is a small house I made from a scrap of oak and wax crayons.
-
¹ Höggó: Shorthand for Höggmyndafélagið (The Icelandic Sculpture Association).
Week 27.
I often instinctively sketch windows. For the last 2-3 weeks, I’ve been staying on the ground floor. I find it uncomfortable when people stare in from the street and see me gawking at the TV.
So, I draw the curtains tight and shut myself in completely.
Week 29.
Finished the project at Höfn, flew home to Antwerp, and drove from there south across France.
Had little time to make an artwork but spent, on the other hand, much time worrying about having little time.
But I saw a fun fence.
Week 31.
I am just easing along, sawing, carving, and trying to paint.
Scared of colors and scared of painting.
It turned out a bit somber.
Week 33.
These chairs keep getting in the way. I tried painting the piece in blue first — it didn’t work. I sanded the color off in a fit of rage.Maybe it’ll go better next time.
There’s a heatwave, might have something to do with it.
Week 35.
I was in Sweden this week, but kept thinking about my blue fit of rage from a few weeks ago. I decided to make a quick, small still-life sketch and paint it blue. It’s easier to keep your cool when the stakes are low.
A blue jug and a spilled milk.
Vika 37.
But then it’s also possible to look on the bright side. I dream of a balcony, a terrace, or a garden, because there’s almost nothing better than crispy, freshly washed laundry hung out to dry in good weather.
Week 39.
This was a hard week.
Week 41.
We’re in Patreksfjörður this week.
On a jeep trip through Svalvogar, I spotted these beautiful angelicas growing out of a cliff.
Week 43.
I love a good costume drama!
This hat with the large decorative feather is borrowed from the painting Two Springs, 1910, by Gustave Van de Woestyne.
An amazing work! I saw it in a museum here in Antwerp.
Week 45.
A sketch of dancers.
When I was seven, I lived in England and practiced tap dancing. I was captivated with Irish dance, like Riverdance. I wanted to dance like them.
Week 47.
Aren’t we all, sometimes, little blue, blues-soaked flowers?
Especially when autumn arrives.
But exciting times ahead. For instance, I bought myself a coat with a fur lining and I’m really looking forward to trying it out in the cold and the dark.
Week 49.
Flying home after a short work period in Iceland. I doodle this form when I have no idea what to sketch, which is quite often.
It’s usually eyes or a mouth.
I’ll save it with a passe-partout and a good frame.
Week 51.
A terrible week, and a sad one.
Shirt with a lot of muscles. Cotton and linden wood.
First week! I have a bit of a belly after the summer, no big deal, but it would be nice to be a bit more fit.

Week 2.
Mushroom (Agaricus umbella)
-Linden wood and acrylics
This mushroom is for my friend Frosti.
Week 4.
Socks - new socks
Time flies!
Maybe it’s wise to start to think about Christmas presents, get ahead of it.
New socks for everyone?
What is the lifetime of new socks?
Week 6.
Dad died 2 years ago.
I was thinking about him, and a dream came back to me, probably the first one I remember properly. We went to a bakery, and I dropped a kleina¹ on the ground and stomped on it on purpose. I felt disappointed, but at the same time, I was fascinated by the squashed mess.

Week 8.
Christmas.
-
(Pressing the button plays a Christmas hymn over the sounds of war.)
Week 10.
Well, Christmas is (finally) over.
The last few weeks have been very hectic.Christmas in ice, New Year's in be, and a opening now in a week.
This is my view for today.
Week 12.
Arrived in Höfn í Hornafirði and finally grabbed a copy of Bændablaðið¹.
Engaged!
-
¹ Bændablaðið: The Farmers' Newspaper, a widely read free bi-weekly publication in Iceland covering agriculture, rural life, and news.
Week 14.
Back in the studio after two weeks in Iceland. Feeling a bit uninspired and lazy.
Then I found this fine wooden block.
It reminded me of a corner in a room, so I decided to play around with perspective and shadows in a wood relief.
Acrylic on pine.
Week 16.
Lately, I’ve been unfocused in my art, jumping from one thing to another. But now I’ll be here in Antwerp for the next two months, with an exhibition in April that I want to create new works for.
In the coming weeks, I’m going to stay focused, make intentional experiments, and see if I can manage to keep a common thread going.
Work: Unfocused.
Pine, acrylic, copper.
Week 18.
Continuing with this copper and timber combo. There’s something fun going on there. It’s very cozy just to carve and saw something and experiment.
At the same time, I’m working on sketches for a larger piece / pieces. A bit stuck for ideas.
We’ll just see no pressure all good ok.
Vika 20.
Another sketch, maybe one more element will be added. A broken plate?
And perhaps two gray surfaces? Otherwise, I’ve carved three plaques out of beech. Much harder timber than I’m used to, but at the same time a smoother texture, doesn't need much sanding.
Which is alright by me.
Week 22.
This is the first green grass of 2025. Spring is starting here. I once sent Sigurrós a single piece of grass by mail to Reykjavík. I was in Berlin at the time, and it was full-on spring with pleasant weather, and the grass was turning green, but in Reykjavík, it was cold, grey, and wet.
Copper, pine, colored pencil.
Week 24.
Going to Iceland on Sunday for about 5 weeks. Need to finish a piece for a big group show in a Pizza Gallery. We were given a frame, 30x40, and the theme is paper. I’m going to make a collage out of multicolored paper of a cupboard with deep pockets. The cupboard is stolen from a work by Gertrude Morgan. I'm broke, but here is a sketch. Cupboard, deep pockets.
Week 26.
Finished the first film project yesterday and I'm on a short break until next week; then I'm heading to Höfn for the next movie.
I’ve grown accustomed to my studio abroad. I find it harder to throw together a 'weekly work' here in Iceland, everything is a bit more of a hassle. But I dropped by Höggó again and played around with equipment I don't have access to out there. It'll all work out.
Week 28.
Found these doodles scribbled here and there, but they were originally templates with measurements for sawing wood panels Now they’ve become something else, but what? I don’t necessarily know.
This just barely made it in time this week. I’m in Höfn working on a film set.
Week 30.
Finally back in the studio. I’ve been cutting corners a bit on this project these past weeks.
Now I’m pulling myself together — from scraps. Snacks for dinner!
Week 32.
Still easing along and sketching.
A fun experiment, but something’s off.
Dead and flat.
A stack of chairs and a table.
Mostly eating and watching.
Week 34.
A sketch for a relief.
I plan to make a larger piece similar to this, in timber. Continuing with these notions I’ve been testing over the past weeks.
Get it out of my system.
Week 36.
The roof is engulfed in flames, and we sleep peacefully.
Week 38.
Not much to say about this - a nail, nailed halfway in.
A half-nailed copper nail, nailed down flat with brass nails.
Week 40.
Sigurrós came to meet me in Iceland, and we finally went on a long-awaited road trip to the countryside.
Here’s the view from the living room window in Svarfaðardalur.
Maybe it’s cute to hang in a summer house?
Week 42.
I got myself an ink pen the other day and found this form while scribbling with it, thinking about the Arps.
This color is called Oyster Pink. I chose it because I was craving oysters. Pretty good color.
Week 44.
Oh boy, good heavens, all good, everyone’s good!
a-okay!
Week 46
A shadow image in a staircase,
a snake in a floral guise,
and eyes watching.
Week 48.
This hat lay in a stream at Vestra Horn. Shortly after, an excavator came and buried it underground.
I didn’t get a photograph of it.
Week 50.
I went to the fashion museum and saw socks on display.
They moved me, so I decided to make a pair myself.
Heel, toe.
Week 52.
Final week.
Opening today at Gryfjunni in Ásmundarsal, 5–7 PM.
Be well.
